North Berwick Maine Teacher Heads for Honduras

June 8th, 2010.

June 27th, 2010 , Sharon Beckwith – Founder & Director of Daisy’s Children will be returning to Honduras, when school lets out for eight weeks this summer. Daisy’s director, Sharon Beckwith, and chair Amanda French who sought the assistance of several volunteers with a common desire, open hearts and willing minds to assist on the first Daisy’s Children service team trip to Honduras, has 12 volunteers that will meet Sharon and Amanda at the airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on July 6th and work through July 14th. Volunteers with the following skills: huggers, painters, sewers, jewelry makers, bilingual speakers, spacklers, concrete workers, soccer players, playground builders, all stepped up for the challenge. The primary focus of this group will be to prepare a newly rented property aquired for the Daisy’s Chiildren organization in the village of Concepcion del Norte to become a Guaderia- ‘Los Angelitos’ de Deysi. This center will provide childcare, nutritious meals, health care, etc. to the youngest of this program enabling moms to work, reenter school, or join one of our vocational programs all at no charge to the poorest of families.

Upon their return join us in our Second Annual – Honduran Rooster Run 5K Road Race at the North Berwick 2010 Festival Days, Aug 21st, 2010. More details on race HERE!
