As I recuperate from ‘culture-shock’ back on North American soil, our organization gears up for dual events to be held on next Saturday, August 21st. The day begins with our 2nd annual Honduran Rooster Run, a fun 5K race with many prizes hand carried from Honduras. Registration 6:30-7:30am. Race start 8:00am. Details available at www.daisyschildren.com as well as registration forms. The afternoon will bring a musical Extravaganza featuring local artists to include the Funky Divas of Gospel. This will take place at 283 Lebanon Road, North Berwick, beginning at 4pm. Food, beverages, and an incredible assortment of musical talent available. All donations for both events will be used to feed 60 children in Concepcion del Norte, Honduras. The summer efforts of a group of volunteers have led to the full rehabilitation of a home which will serve as a guaderia (daycare) center for the poorest children of this village. Here they will receive 2 nutritious meals and a snack each day, combined with hygiene, dental care, vitamins, and access to medical care. As each child approaches the age for kindergarten entrance all necessary uniforms and supplies will be provided. Daisy’s Children’s school aged children will arrive after school for educational support and a hot meal. None of this can happen without your support.
